New Year's Day in Haiti -- thousands in Port-au-Prince call for President Michel Martelly to resign.<br/> <br />Protests in recent weeks have already forced the resignation of their Prime Minister.<br/> <br />Demonstrators say their government is corrupt.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Creole) GERARD GILLES, EX-SENATOR FOR FANMI LAVALAS PARTY, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Today we see that only a minority holds all the wealth and that the majority is still suffering."<br/> <br />Also at issue is three years of delays to elections.<br/> <br />If they're not held before January 12, parliament will shut down, leaving the country without a functioning government.<br/> <br />Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, and is still struggling from a devastating earthquake five years ago.
