Hundreds of ancient sites in Syria have been looted, damaged or destroyed during the continuing conflict. <br /><br />From ancient markets, to world famous mosques, hundreds of landmarks have been affected by the fighting. <br /><br />The United Nations says 24 cultural sites in Syria have been completely destroyed.<br /><br />The place where most heritage sites have been destroyed or damaged is the old city of Aleppo. <br /><br />Al Jazeera's Randolph Nogel reports.
