'We Are Fed Up': Annual Berlin march attracts tens of thousands of people

Tens of thousands of German farmers and consumer rights activists have taken to the streets of Berlin to protest against: so-called ‘animal factories’; genetically modified food; and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).<br /><br /> Now in its fifth year, the ‘We Are Fed Up’ march takes place annually during the International Green Week – Europe’s biggest agricultural fair.<br /><br /> Campaigner Jochen Fritz explained why he attended the rally:<br />“Eating is political,” he said. “Every single decision I make about what to buy is determined by how the animals are kept, or what grows in our fields. Of course, I can buy species-appropriately: I can eat less meat – we eat too much, anyway – meat of better quality.
