Demonstrations have continued in Bahrain ending in further clashes with police.<br /><br /> Tuesday’s violence was triggered by the sentencing of one of the country’s most prominent human rights activists to six months in prison over Twitter message.<br /><br /> Nabeel Rajabwas charged with insulting a public institution and the army.<br /><br /> According to his lawyer Rajab has been granted bail while he launches an appeal.<br />In the past he has been on record for saying that Bahrain’s laws and judiciary are being used as tools of repression.<br /><br /> On Monday the head of Bahrain’s main opposition group, Sheikh Ali Salman was formally charged with promoting violent regime changes.<br /><br /> Bahrain’s Sunni Muslim rulers forcibly quelled a 2011 uprising which had been largely triggered by unrest among the Shia Muslim majority.
