In Ecuador, an environmentalist engineer is using a plant fiber encapsulant to mitigate natural disasters caused by the spillage of hydro-carbons. He has developed a product known as PMC, which must be spread from the outskirts of a spillage towards its center until the fuel forms a solid and uniform bar. Once encapsulated, the hazardous materials are carried away in nets similar to those used in fishing. The patent is already been registered in many countries. teleSUR
