France’s Socialist government has survived a no-confidence vote in parliament.<br /><br /> The vote was called after Prime Minister Manuel Valls resorted to decree on Tuesday (17 February) to push through parliament a package of economically liberal reforms, despite strong opposition from the French left.<br /><br /> The bill, spearheaded by Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron, now goes through for Senate approval.<br /><br /> The reforms aim to cut red tape in several areas, including allowing more shops to open on Sundays and evenings and speeding up job dismissal procedures.
