Mumbai: More than five decades after Gujarat became an independent state, Gujarati Asmita (pride) is still being used only as a poll plank. Interestingly, there are only eleven Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) students and nine Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students in Mumbai University's department of Gujarati.
