He lived long and prospered, but on Friday (February 27) at the age of 83 American actor and director Leonard Nimoy died in Los Angeles.<br /><br /> Best known for his role as the half-human, half-Vulcan Mr Spock in the cult sci-fi series Star Trek, Nimoy gained a worldwide fanbase.<br /><br /> Chronic lung disease<br /><br /> Despite quitting smoking over 20 years earlier, in 2014 the actor revealed he was suffering from chronic lung disease.<br /><br /> Don't smoke.
