A senior U.S. advisor says the U.S. Congress should encourage Japan to make efforts to heal ties with its neighbors that have worsened due to Tokyo's denials of its wartime history.<br />President and CEO of the Mansfield Foundation Frank Jannuzi says that, if the issues are not addressed, wounds from the past could threaten important future steps for the U.S.-Japan alliance, including... the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and the finalization of new alliance defense guidelines.<br />Jannuzi, who described Japan's wartime sexual enslavement of Korean women as "forced recruitment,"... pointed out that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been trying to minimize Tokyo's culpability.
