Thousands of Italian tourist guides have been protesting in Rome. <br /><br /> They are angry about government changes to the examination and registration system, which will mean that guides can work all over the country, rather than just in particular regions. <br /><br /> To date, for example, guides working in Rome have not been permitted to work in Florence. <br /><br /> Demonstrators have also criticised the axing of a police section in Rome, which has been checking and fining illegal guides.
