(1989) <br /><br />*I played Buddy Holly in the worst movie of all time - Great Balls of Fire! starring Gomer Pyle as Jerry Lee Lewis!<br /><br />https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097457/reference<br /><br />I was filming one of my scenes at the beautiful Memphis Orpheum, watching Gomer (the big DQ) burn the piana down, to recreate the Brooklyn-Freed apocryphal myth, in a Disney-bowdlerized, epithetless bastardization.<br /><br />Jerry Lee: Follow that, Killer! <br /><br />(this is a characterization of the dialogue)<br /><br />JLL: "Listen here my good man of darkened complexion - why don't you attempt to perform your sidepiece subsequent to my great pyrotechnic display?"<br /><br />Jerry lee shows up on set to watch.<br /><br />He gets out of his limo in flip-flops and a Sherlock Holmes pipe while me and chuck berry are getting our pictures made with all the extras.<br /><br /><br />Producer, Adam Fields starts to introduce me to the Killer, and Jerry Lee looks at this pipsqueak, rock & roll, phony-type cat, and says:<br /><br />"Oh,Killer, I know Killer!"<br /><br />Adam replies:<br /><br /><br />"He's playing Buddy Holly. "<br /><br />Whereupon, Jerry Lee gives me the once-over twice, pops the meerschaum out of his leering suck-hole, and in a dilaudid-meets-Ferriday accent, slurs in my direction:<br /><br /><br />"Killer, Buddy Holly was my best friend in the world..."<br /><br /><br />Then back to Adam: <br /><br />"if you had enough sense to hire Killer here to play Buddy, you got more sense than i thought you had..."<br /><br />then to me again:<br /><br />"Son, you look more like Buddy Holly than Buddy Holly ever did!"<br /><br /> ----<br /><br />Writers:<br /><br /> Myra Lewis, Murray Silver Jr., Jack Baran<br /><br />Stars:<br /><br /> Dennis Quaid, Winona Ryder<br /><br />Goofs<br /><br />When Jerry plays the burning piano, he stops playing clearly before the piano sound is gone.
