Italian tax investigators conclude case against Apple

2015-03-24 7 Dailymotion

Apple may be about to be taken to court in Italy after investigators concluded a probe into whether or not the US tech giant dodged 879 million euros of corporate taxes.

The claim covers the period 2008-2013 and involves three managers, two in Italy and one in Ireland. The company refutes the allegations, pointing to its state-approved audits of 2007, 2008 and 2009, and insists it was in full compliance with the OECD documentation and transparency requirements.

Apple is just the latest of several multinational companies facing legal action in Europe for tax avoidance, in this case allegedly booking profits made in high-tax member states by subsidiaries in lower-tax ones.
