Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced yesterday that the campaign to collect 10 million signatures on a petition to US President Barack Obama demanding that he revoke his executive order declaring Caracas a threat to US security had exceeding its goal. He told a rally that the campaign and mass response of the Venezuelan people had forced Washington to backtrack on its claim. Accompanied by Bolivian President Evo Morales, Maduro said the reversal in Washington's stance could lead to improved relations between the two countries, but based on respect and non-interference. The petitions will be presented to Obama on Friday during the Summit of the Americas. teleSUR
