Three people were killed after a gunman opened fire inside the Palace of Justice in Milan on Thursday morning.<br /><br />Claudio Giardiello, a defendant who was on trial for fraudulent bankruptcy, reportedly opened fire at a lawyer and his co-defendant before entering the office of Judge Fernando Ciampi and shooting him dead. A fourth person was also reportedly injured when he was shot in the leg.<br /><br />Giardiello fled the scene on a motorbike, although it is unclear how he managed to exit the building. Police traced his whereabouts by following his license plate on surveillance cameras and found Giardiello at a shopping center in the northern town of Vimercate, where he was arrested.
