The new State Route 99 tunnel in Seattle was hit by another accident Thursday afternoon, when five workers were sent into free fall after an elevator shaft collapsed.<br /><br />The accident took place in the north portal area of the State Route 99 tunnel construction site in downtown Seattle. Five workers were working inside an elevator shaft when a rebar wall collapsed.<br /><br />The workers fell about 25 feet. Four of them were wounded, but their injuries were not considered life threatening.<br /><br />The new tunnel has already suffered a two-year delay.
