Update: Cleveland cop had ‘dismal’ handgun performance, former boss says http://youtu.be/rzQ200J25JI<br /><br />----------------------------------------<br /><br />Cleveland police on Wednesday released security camera footage showing the moment 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot dead by a police officer after mistaking his BB gun for a real weapon.<br /><br />Rice was shot in the stomach by rookie officer Timothy Loehmann, 26, on Saturday after a man called in to 9-1-1 to report a young man waving around a gun.<br /><br />The caller told the dispatcher that the weapon was probably fake, but this information was never passed on to the responding officers.<br /><br />The grainy footage, released at a press conference on Wednesday shows Rice wandering around Cudell Recreation Center in Cleveland waving the weapon at passersby.<br /><br />Officers, who initially thought Rice was aged about 20 is then shot just two seconds after the officers pull up in their cruiser.
