Snow Leopard family - A mother with three cubs sighted in Khunjerab NP, Pakistan...

The snow leopard or ounce (Panthera uncia) is a large cat native to the mountain ranges of Central and South Asia. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species because the global population is estimated to number less than 10,000 mature individuals and decline about 10% in the next 23 years. As of 2016, the global population was estimated at 4,500 to 8,745 mature individuals.

Snow leopards inhabit alpine and subalpine zones at elevations from 3,000 to 4,500 m (9,800 to 14,800 ft). In the northern range countries, they also occur at lower elevations.

Taxonomically, the snow leopard was initially classified in the monotypic genus Uncia.[2] Since 2008, it is considered a member of the large genus Panthera based on results of genetic studies. Two subspecies have been described based on morphological differences, but genetic differences between the two have not been confirmed.

Northern Areas Of Pakistan is your destination for daily Exploring with fresh videos every day.

Follow my social media accounts for daily mind-blowing Destinations.

Subscribe us on YouTube -
https://www.youtube.com/c/NorthernAreasOfPakistan

Follow us on Dailymotion -
http://www.dailymotion.com/northernareasofpakistan

Follow us on Twitter -
https://twitter.com/NorthernAOP

Like us on Facebook -
https://www.facebook.com/northernareasofpakistan

Follow us on Instagram -
https://www.instagram.com/northernaop

Follow us on Pinterest -
https://www.pinterest.com/NorthernAOP

If you have any copyright issues then please contact me directly on -
northernareasofpakistans@gmail.com

Thanks for taking the time to view Northern Areas Of Pakistan Videos.
