Greece’s state broadcaster “The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) is to reopen nearly two years after it was unplugged as part of government austerity cuts.<br /><br /> It’s closure sparked a wave of protests and the withdrawal of a partner from the coalition government at the time.<br /><br /> ERT which cost 300 million euros a year to run was replaced with a slimmed down broadcaster named NERT, which is expected to be merged or absorbed by ERT.<br /><br /> Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras hopes its reopening will heal a great wound in the country’s bailout programme.
