STERIJINO POZORJE FESTIVAL 2015 - Novi Sad, Serbia -
Atelier 212 Theatre Belgrade -
KASIMIR AND KAROLINE / KAZIMIR I KAROLINA
Text: Ödön von Horváth
Director: Snežana Trišić

The setting of the play Kasimir and Karoline was an excellent reportorial move of the Atelier 212 Theatre. This work by Ödön von Horváth integrates a whole range of issues that concern contemporary society: What happens when ordinary man loses his job? Can love survive without money? What happens to a society in which individuals are compressed into disenfranchised masses? In the staging of Snežane Trišić, Ödön von Horváth’s lines relating to social and moral poverty hit like a sledgehammer onto the audience’s awareness. This effect is largely contributed to by an excellent acting, functional set design and music that gives the play a special power while making it fun, exciting and disturbing.
