Travis Sanders was tased by a Hawaii park ranger on Saturday evening as he was checking out a lava lake that has become a popular tourist site after it began rising recently. Sanders was operating a camera drone in order to get some good shots of the lava, however flying an unmanned aircraft in US national parks is prohibited.

According to Sanders, he was not aware that the person screaming at him to land the drone was a park ranger and he told news media that the person who turned out to be a park ranger was excessively aggressive and demanded ID which he did not have on him at the time.

The ranger's tale is a bit different. He says Sanders ignored three warnings to land the drone and then proceeded to try to flee the scene, strangely, by heading towards a 500 foot drop. The ranger said that is why he drew his Taser and fired significant amounts of electricity into Sanders body.

People at the scene however seem to side with Sanders, with one eye witness saying that the ranger seriously overreacted. Sanders was charged with illegally operating the drone as well as other minor offenses. It's unclear if the ranger will be disciplined for tasing Sanders.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
