An unemployed Japanese burglar in his 70s was caught red-handed after bursting into two convenience stores before fleeing with 7,000 yen (US$ 70) early on December 30th, according to a report in the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.<br /><br />The suspect, Terutoshi Egawa, is charged with robbing the 52-year-old female clerk of about 7,000 yen (US$ 70) at saw-point. He fled the store with his 35-centimeter saw blade on a bike. <br /><br />The female clerk chased the burglar and was about to lose him when she borrowed a bike from a security guard and continued the chase. She chased him for 600 meters while shouting ' Stop, thief!' before police rushed over and held him down. <br /><br />He also pleaded guilty to another attempted theft, but as he couldn't open the till, he fled without cash.
