Plane Crash off Florida coast, two bodies recovered

Originally published on November 20, 2013 <br /><br />Two bodies have been recovered from a small plane that crashed just minutes after taking off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday (November 19) evening.<br /><br />The small Learjet 35 plane took off from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 7:51 p.m. for a confirmed medical flight bound for Cozumel, Mexico. The pilots radioed mechanical problems before the aircraft crashed at 8:15 p.m. one kilometre off the Florida coast. <br /><br />Two pilots and two passengers were onboard the plane. The bodies of one man and one woman were recovered near the wreckage at 8:45 p.m. <br /><br />The Coast Guard and the local police and fire departments are continuing the search for the two possible survivors of the crash.<br /><br />This incident was the third in a series of crashes involving small jets flying to or within Mexico over the past two days. <br /><br />Earlier on Tuesday, a Cessna 150 flying crashed soon after taking off from Mina International Airport in Tampico, Mexico, killing the pilot and the only other passenger onboard. On Monday, a small plane flying from Nuevo Leon to Xalapa crashed in the mountainous region of Veracruz state. The pilot and one passenger were also killed.<br /><br />At least six people have been confirmed dead in these flight mishaps.
