Jaiden Newcomer's faith in humanity was restored after the central Pennsylvania thief who stole the 100-pound pumpkin the nine-year-old had won at an Oktoberfest celebration returned it to the boy's front porch on Sunday.<br /><br />After taking home top prize at a pumpkin guess-the-weight competition, Jaiden took home the giant specimen, which was so large, four adult family members were needed to lift it onto the family's porch. <br /><br />"They put it on a wheelbarrow to move it," Amy Newcomer, Jaiden's mother, told the York Dispatch.<br /><br />But, the boy's heart was smashed last week when the prize pumpkin was stolen from the family's porch.<br /><br />Word quickly got out about the theft, and the burglar, perhaps realizing who he had stolen it from, had a sudden change of heart. <br /><br />The thief returned the pumpkin to the boy's porch, along with an apology note.<br /><br />The note read: "I'm really sorry about taking your pumpkin. It was wrong of me. You earned the pumpkin. I didn't think my actions through nor realize who they were affecting. Sincerest apologies." <br /><br />"I never thought it would actually be returned," said Jaiden's mother.
