The gorillas at Calgary Zoo are in the news again after escaping from their enclosure and making a break for the keeper kitchen next door.<br /><br />It marks the second time this year that the zoo's western lowland gorillas have made a break for the kitchen, after a similar escape in March when they reportedly went ape in search of the fruits, grains and treats stored in the facility.<br /><br />No staff or gorillas were injured in the incident.<br /><br />In the March incident, a zookeeper lost his job after several gorillas escaped made it into the kitchen when a door wasn't properly locked.<br />A zookeeper discovered several of the zoo's eight lowland gorillas in the kitchen at around 900 am<br />The keeper was injured and was treated in hospital before being released the same day.<br />At the time the zoo said that emergency protocols were followed and the viewing public was never at risk.<br /><br />Zoo spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder said there was no public alert because the gorillas remained in the containment area at all times and were never a threat to zoo visitors.<br /><br />--------------------------------------------------------<br /><br />TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
