Originally published on July 11, 2013<br /><br />Two people were killed and six wounded late on Tuesday in attacks by militants in Egypt's lawless province of North Sinai, according to a Reuters report. A police base near the border town of Rafah was first attacked.<br /><br />Militants shelled the base with mortar rounds and fired upon it with truck-mounted heavy machine guns. Another police checkpoint was also attacked in the town of El-Arish, 27 miles west of Rafah.<br /><br />Near the remote village of Sadr El-Heytan, located in the centre of the province, Islamist militants attacked an Egyptian security forces checkpoint using rocket-propelled grenades.<br /><br />--------------------------------------------------------<br /><br />TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
