An attack on a popular guest house in the Afghan capital Kabul has left at least 14 people dead. <br /><br /> Those killed include four Indian nationals, a Briton, an American, an Italian and a Kazakh national.<br /><br /> The Afghan Taliban has claimed responsibility for the five-hour assault at the Park Palace, located in the diplomatic enclave of Kabul.<br /><br /> It happened as guests attended a dinner and arrived for a concert. <br /><br /> Police say more than 40 people were rescued. It is unclear how many gunmen were involved.<br /><br /> A Taliban spokesman said the aim was to kill foreigners, in retaliation for the US and its allies supporting the Kabul government of President Ashraf Ghani. <br /><br /> Militants have stepped up attacks since most foreign forces pulled out of Afghanistan at the end of last year.
