Seven Egyptian security officers were kidnapped by a group of unknown gunmen in the Sinai Peninsula on Thursday. <br />According to Reuters, three policemen and four army officers were riding in two separate taxis travelling from Arish to Rafah cities in North Sinai when they were stopped by militants and kidnapped. It was reported that the gunmen are demanding the release of members of Islamist group Al-Tawhid wal Jihad, who were convicted of carrying out attacks in North Sinar in 2011 that killed six members of the security forces and a civilian.
