Twenty-nine baggage handlers were arrested after cameras caught them damaging and stealing from luggage at several Italian airports, Italian media reported. <br />The investigation began in 2011 and involved eight airports across the country; Milan, Rome, Bari, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Verona, Bologna and Napoli. <br />The robberies were carried out in the cargo holds of airplanes during loading and unloading times. <br />According to reports, the suspects would enter a plane's cargo hold, open luggage, sometimes forcing and breaking it, and take valuable items such as cameras and mobile phones.<br />The suspects face up to six years in prison.
