Teachers in France went on strike on Tuesday and demonstrated against planned reforms.<br /><br />The country’s 840,000 teachers oppose to the plans, the unions say, fearing they will increase competition between schools and lead to inequalities.<br /><br />They could also lead to teachers performing tasks outside of their training.<br /><br />The reforms to secondary education aims to give schools more choices over what they can teach, promote interdisciplinary learning and combat elitism.<br /><br />Schooling is an especially sensitive subject in France because it prides itself on equal access to education.
