MANILA -- Four people were killed and one got wounded in an ambush in San Lorenzo, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday morning.<br /><br />Sr. Supt. Crizaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija Police chief, said 5 unidentified suspects on board a Toyota Hi-Lux (TT 1506) opened fire at the victims at around 10:30 a.m. in an eatery.<br /><br />Police said the target of the ambush was businessman Emerson Pascual, a member of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) who was not new to death threats.<br /><br />Pascual survived the shooting but his driver, 44-year-old Rufino Vendivel, and King Jasper Juvinal died on the spot.<br />PO2 Jeferson Lim, one of Pascual's security escorts, and 85-year-old Consuelo Manse died in a hospital.<br /><br />A certain Rodney Garcia, meanwhile, remains in critical condition.<br /><br />Police have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.<br /><br />The vehicle used by suspects was later recovered in Brgy. Malapit, San Isidro town. Investigation also revealed that the vehicle was stolen.<br /><br />A suspect was later arrested based on the testimony of Pascual.
