The predicted shortage of medicines in the Honduran national health system has become a reality. The shortage is attributed to the 20% cut in the health system's 2015 budget. Members of congress have been demanding the creation of an emergency fund to purchase medicines desperately needed by poor patients who don't have the money to purchase them in private pharmacies.
