The Palestinian national unity government, formed to heal the split between Fatah and Hamas has resigned.<br /><br /> An inability to exert any influence in the Gaza Strip is cited as the reason.<br /><br /> The decision to install a technocrat administration to dilute the tension that exists between Fatah and Hamas looks to have failed.<br /><br /> Ihab Bseiso is a Palestinian government spokesman :<br />“The Prime Minister Dr. Rami Hamdallah has been calling for a reshuffle of the government for the last few months, particularly after the war in Gaza, which really needed a reshuffle to expand the government to meet all the needs for the people, particularly our people in Gaza Strip after the Israeli war.”<br /><br /> Hamas says that the Islamist movement had not been consulted and was opposed to any unilateral dissolution of the government.<br /><br /> Fawzi Barhoum spoke for Hamas: “Any changes in the government, dissolving or accepting its resignation, or forming a new government, should come through a national deal according to the “S
