A weekly news show produced with photos, videos and personal accounts from France 24 Observers around the world - all checked by our staff here in Paris.

Story 1: France
We begin today with Uber, the international car-sharing service that was actually inspired by France. Not many people know that. But when one of the founders was in Paris a few years ago - and unable to find a normal taxi, he came up with the idea for Uber. The company has now introduced its low-cost Uberpop service in France, and the government doesn't like it. They say it's illegal because it uses ordinary citzens as drivers, with no special training. And France's taxi drivers are furious too.

Story 2: Ivory Coast
Next up, germ warfare in Ivory Coast. The "germs" in question are juvenile delinquents, who roam the city of Abidjan in gangs. As a response, young men in the northern suburb of Abobo have organised themselves into squads of "germ hunters." But our Observer says they might be just as dangerous.

Visit our website:
http://www.france24.com

Like us on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/FRANCE24.English

Follow us on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/France24_en
