Depite an ominous police protest, dissident teachers from states including Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Michocan protested so-called education reforms outside the nation’s Senate on Wednesday, especially the punitive teacher evaluations. Minister of Education Emilio Chauyffet, on the other hand, defended the measure in a congressional hearing the same day.
