Driver killed as coach carrying British schoolchildren crashes in Belgium

A coach carrying 34 children from a British school has crashed in Belgium killing one driver and injuring at least six on board, reports suggest.<br /><br /> Local mayor Janna Rommel-Opstaele confirmed one person had died in the crash, which is thought to have taken place in West Flanders at around 9.45 am local time on Sunday, June 28.<br /><br /> One boy reportedly suffered a serious head injury and is believed to be in intensive care. Two further pupils, two teachers and another of the drivers are also said to have been taken to hospital.<br /><br /> The coach was carrying a group of 11 to 13 year olds from Brentwood School in Essex, south-east England. Both drivers are thought to be from Northern Ireland, which is where the coach operator is based.<br /><br /> Eyewitnesses say the vehicle crashed into the pillar of a motorway bridge. The cause of he crash has not yet been determined.
