Yemen: coalition forces retake Aden airport

Coalition forces loyal to Yemen’s exiled president have recaptured the airport in the country’s second city of Aden.<br /><br /> Houthi rebel forces were pounded as they pulled back from positions they had held since forcing Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi into exile in Saudi Arabia in March. <br /><br /> The offensive, backed by Saudi Arabia, has been bombing rebel positions for the last three months.<br /><br /> At least 25 people died and 50 were wounded in a coalition air strike on the capital, Sanaa, on Monday. <br /><br /> An estimated 3,200 people have died in the conflict since March alone.<br /><br /> The UN has declared Yemen a level three humanitarian emergency, the highest on the scale. 80 percent of the population, more than 21 million people, need aid.<br /><br /> 13 million face food shortages while access to water is difficult for more than nine million.
