As the month of Ramadan winds down in the Gaza Strip, residents seek to hold the Eid al-Fitr festival marking the end of this holy period of prayer and fasting in the Muslim world. Yet some of the basic foodstuffs are unavailable due to the seven-year Israeli military blockade and the Egyptian destruction of tunnels. Although UNWRA canceled its yearly Ramadan appeal, some charities launched a small Ramadan project to provide hundreds of families with food, while Gaza residents pray for a better future.
