And many thousand miles as well. 'Desconocidos', their highly praised debut, was recorded in Barcelona, Spain and released in 2012.

The new album 'Amor Violento', released April 28th by Balaclava Records, was recorded in a small, secluded studio in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Portland (US West Coast) is a cultural, dynamic and creative city with a vibrant independent music scene. “There’s a huge artistic movement there, inspiring people to focus on craftsmanship and value creativity first and foremost," says Thiago Klein, who alongside Eduardo Praça forms Quarto Negro.

The time the duo spent in the Pacific Northwest was an immersive period of growth and discovery. “We went to Portland in search of inspiration, a clean break from routine and to find our innermost focus," continues Thiago.

They were welcomed with a one of a kind opportunity to record in a studio with vintage equipment and a host of like-minded creative collaborators. Amor Violento is produced by native Portland duo The Helio Sequence. Bands Menomena and The Thermals contributed.

The new record is accompanied by a full-length feature documentary, GRU-PDX, set for release shortly after the album, that chronicles the duo's travels and the Portland recording sessions. It is directed by “honorary band member” Daniel Barosa.

"It’s a collision of the Portuguese language with ethereal melodies, of the Catalan summer with the cold US coast, and of Brazilian and North American musicians", explains Eduardo.

'Desconocidos' (2011)
'Amor Violento' (April 28, 2015)
'Buu' (2008)
'Zoroastro' (2009)
'Bom dia, lua' (2010)

Eduardo Praça - acoustic guitar/vocals
Thiago Klein - keys
Guest participation Haven Multz-Matthews (Animal Eyes-Portland) - drums

Next shows:
'Dia da Música', June 21, 1.30pm - Alameda das Flores - MASP, Sao Paulo.
USA West Coast Tour, July.

http://www.quartonegro.com.br
https://twitter.com/quartonegro
https://instagram.com/quartonegro
https://www.youtube.com/quartonegro
https://soundcloud.com/quartonegro

CREDITS / SPONSORS
Production, Booking & Script: UK Live Sessions Music Entertainment Projects & PR
Cam-op: Keila Antunes and Caue Patucci
Mixer Engineer & Music Production: Rafael DG by Audmo
Guest presenter: David Ferreira (Lucky Lupe)

Photographers: Keila Antunes and Caue Patucci
View Location: Centro Cultural São Paulo - http://www.centrocultural.sp.gov.br/

Supporter:
Centro Cultural São Paulo - http://www.centrocultural.sp.gov.br/

Equipment by Nikon - http://www.nikon.com.br

Beverages by Bier & Wein - http://www.bierwein.com.br/
Feel Good Tea and Sufresh by Wow Nutrition - http://www.wownutrition.com.br/
Catering Tyrrell's by Latinex - http://www.latinex.com.br/

Tune in again to BalconyTV //
