In response to violent right-wing demonstrations, the Ecuadoran congress passed a resolution codifying the right to non-violent protest. The legislature also joined President Rafael Correa's initiative for a national debate on equality and social justice. Its 12 commissions will be visiting the country's 23 provinces to promote discussion on the issues they attend to. The dialogue will continue through December and the results and proposals will be included in the 2016 congressional agenda. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito. teleSUR
