Turkey keeps up pressure on PKK with more airstrikes

Turkey’s military has once again bombarded Kurdish rebel positions in Northern Iraq. A state-run agency released video purporting to show laser guided bombs being dropped on what were described as ‘logistics depots’ belonging to the Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK.<br /><br /> On Tuesday the Turkish army also implemented tighter security measures on the Turkish side of its border with Iraq.<br /><br /> F16 fighter jets are said to have struck a group of PKK militants in southeastern Turkey within hours of the group allegedly firing on Turkish police in the mountanous province of Sirnak.<br /><br /> Turkey began airstrikes against the PKK last week following a series of attacks on its police officers and soldiers blamed on the Kurdish militant group.<br /><br /> With its simultaneous strikes against ISIL targets in Syria, Ankara says its conducting a battle against all forms of terrorism.<br /><br /> The government has said its is impossible to continue as peace process with Kurdish separatists unless the militants disarm.
