Croatia and Serbia mark the 20th anniversary of Operation Storm

Croatia marked the 20th anniversary of Operation Storm on Tuesday, the decisive battle to reclaim a swathe of territory from Serb separatists and force Serbia into peace negotiations.<br /><br /> The Croatian President Grabar Kitarovic attended a military parade in the capital Zagreb.<br /><br /> August 5 in Croatia is marked as Victory and Homeland Day and is celebrated accordingly. <br /><br /> In Serbia however it was a different story. <br /><br /> Over 1800 Serbs were either killed or listed as missing as a result of the attack and hundreds of thousands of Serbs were driven out of the region. <br /><br /> A memorial service at the Sremska Raca bridge on the border with Croatia was attended by the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. <br /><br /> The two leaders dropped wreaths in to the river in memory of the victims.
