In 2008, DAP's Charles Santiago captured the Klang Parliamentary constituency for the Pakatan Rakyat opposition coalition by a 17,701 majority. He polled 37,990 votes over MCA's Ch'ng Toh Eng who garnered 20,289 votes.<br /><br />In the 2008 12th general election, Klang had 77,816 eligible voters. Chinese comprised the majority at 47%, Malays at 34% and Indians comprised 19% of the voters.<br /><br />Five years hence, the electoral statistics have changed.
