The Universiti Malaya Centre for Democracy and Elections (Umcedel) today pressed on with its forum on election, albeit some amendments, after being pressured by the government to abort it.<br /><br />Umcedel director Mohammad Redzuan Othman told the audience at the forum today that the instruction had come from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the Higher Education Ministry.<br /><br />"When I returned from London two weeks ago, I received a text message asking that it be cancelled.<br /><br />"I was told this was an instruction from PMO and the Higher Education Ministry... no reason was given," he told the lecture hall in UM, Kuala Lumpur this morning.<br /><br />Full story: http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/221738
