American Airlines will open a direct route from Los Angeles to Havana following the reopening of the U.S. Embassy last week. The airline will offer a weekly charter flight that is due to start next December. Such flights have been operating from Miami to Havana since 1991, mainly providing service for Cuban residents of the United States to visit their families. New routes will also allow non-Cuban U.
