June 12, 2013: PKR Vice-President and its MP for Padang Serai, N Surendran reiterates the opposition's call for the setting up of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) in light of the recent spate of deaths in police custody.<br /><br />Today was the funeral of C Sugumar, a security guard that was handcuffed and beaten to death allegedly by police on January 21 this year. No one has been charged for his death.<br /><br />His body had been lying in the mortuary as the family were attempting to apply for an independent autopsy to determine cause of death. Their attempts were unsuccessful.
