Police have arrested 18 people who had gathered in front of the Jinjang police station tonight in a show of solidarity for student activist Adam Adli, who was detained last Saturday and is expected to be charged with sedition tomorrow.<br /><br />About 1,000 had earlier gathered outside the station at about 8.30pm, amidst heavy police presence, who also sealed the entrance to the station.<br /><br />The candlelight vigil had proceeded smoothly until about 10pm, when, as PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub was addressing the crowd, police issued a 10-minute notice for them to disperse. All the detainees were later released at 2am.
