Among the latest tragic deaths of people trying to reach Europe are some one dozen Syrians who drowned after they set out in two boats from Bodrum, a resort in southeastern Turkey. Others are still missing.<br /><br /> Migrants attempt the short crossing from Bodrum to the Greek island of Kos in small dingies. A senior naval official said almost 100 people had been rescued in this area by Turkish vessels overnight.<br /><br /> The confirmed dead included five children and one woman. <br /><br /> Many of the migrants do not have life vests.
