Mumbai: Having drawn a lot of flak over the arrest of cartoonist Aseem Trivedi, the Maharashtra government has prepared a draft circular laying down the parameters for invoking the charge of sedition. A recent order of the Maharashtra government laying down guidelines to police for invoking the Indian Penal Code section's 124 (A) pertaining to sedition set off a wave of protests from both the opposition as well as social media users. The Maharashtra government has given police powers to take action against those critical of the state or central government if it deemed such critiques to be particularly offensive. Political observers apprehend this could threaten free speech.

Subscribe to Tv9 Gujarati https://www.youtube.com/tv9gujarati
Like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/tv9gujarati
Follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/Tv9Gujarat
Follow us on Dailymotion at http://www.dailymotion.com/GujaratTV9
Circle us on Google+ : https://plus.google.com/+tv9gujarat
Follow us on Pinterest at http://www.pinterest.com/tv9gujarati/pins/
