A strike by Lufthansa pilots cancelled more than 80 long-haul flights out of Germany on Tuesday, and hundreds of short-haul journeys are likely to be affected on Wednesday.<br /><br /> The pilots’ two-day walkout is the 13th strike in 18 months in a long-running dispute with Lufthansa management over early retirement benefits, pay and cost cuts.<br /><br /> The airline wants to lower its spending to better compete with budget firms like Ryanair.<br /><br /> Strikes are said to have cost Lufthansa 100 million euros so far this year.
