An unusual video has emerged showing an office IT worker's glass dish suddenly exploding as he ate his lunch in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia.

The footage, captured on the office's CCTV camera on Wednesday, shows the moment his lunch container shattered out of nowhere - confusing the man and his colleagues. The victim, Rhys Evans, sent the CCTV footage to his old science teacher Jacob Strickling to understand what happened, who shared it online.

Strickling wrote online: "As the glass cools in the manufacturing process, the inside of the glass is subject to an extreme 'trapped' pressure.

"Under certain circumstances this can lead to modern glass products such as tables, shower screens, pool fences, glasses etc. exploding without warning."

Strickling is known for his YouTube vlog 'Make Science Fun' where he posts experiments and explains scientific phenomena.
